Target to expand its health and hygiene-focused household appliance offerings to 30% of its portfolio

New Delhi: Godrej Appliances, part of Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, has strengthened its product offering in line with consumers’ shift towards greater health and hygiene awareness. To meet this growing demand, the brand has introduced advanced “nano-disinfection technology” into its range of frost-free refrigerators, for which the company has also filed a patent.

The environment we live in today is prone to germs and consumers are increasingly concerned about it. Godrej Appliances wants to make sure that the food people eat is as healthy as possible, especially in the current scenario where our food changes hands before it reaches us and even the air around is prone to germs. The nano disinfection technology uses a special anti-germ nano coating in the air circulation duct of the refrigerator. The air passing through this duct is disinfected and as it circulates it controls microbial activity in the closed refrigerator compartment, further disinfecting food surfaces in the refrigerator. This technology has been tested to provide 100% surface sterilization at the duct level and an average of over 95% surface disinfection of food against germs. The marked reduction in microbial activity helps ensure better preservation of food, keeping it fresher and healthier for longer. Unlike regular refrigerators which reduce microbial growth through cooling, disinfection technology goes one step further by sanitizing the air in the refrigerator and therefore the exposed food surfaces from any germs that might be there.

The technology has been tested in a NABL accredited laboratory. 24-hour food surface disinfection laboratory tests were conducted against a selected set of commonly found germs like eColi, Salmonella, etc. This advanced technology is the property of Godrej Appliances.

Earlier this year, Godrej Appliances introduced the T-Series air conditioners with special nanoscale coated antiviral filtration technology that disinfects 99.9% * of viral and bacterial particles that come in contact with the surface of the nanocoated filter. ; Godrej Eon dishwashers with technologies such as UV-Ion anti-germ technology, steam washing and antibacterial filters to eliminate bacteria and disinfect dishes; and BEE-rated 5-star Godrej Eon Magnus washing machines with GermShield technology that disinfects over 99.99% of germs * and covid virus *. Godrej also offers advanced medical refrigerators for vaccine storage and advanced freezers for medical cold chain and was part of the covid vaccination campaign in India.
